"The first "one-step process" methanol-to-arene unit in the world developed and used by us is operating overloaded. In the past, we visited foreign countries for study and investigation. At present, foreigners learn experience from us. We have the absolute right to say in this technology, making the enterprise to leap forward from coal processing to fine chemistry transformation upgrading. With the extension of industry chain in the enterprise, the ratio of coal processing to fine chemistry will be changed from the current 5:5 to 3:7 or 2:8 by 2014", said Chen Xuewei, executive deputy general manager of Inner Mongolia Kingho Group with confidence. 
    Kingho Group entered into Alxa Zuoqi for mineral resources development by introducing foreign capital in 1998. In the previous ten years, the Group has closely concentrated on industrial structure adjustment and transformation of economic development mode and walk on the industrial development road of "relying, developing and extending coal". Its industry extends from Alxa to Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang and even to Mongolia, from pure coal exploitation and processing to high-end fine chemical industry including crude coal cleaning and selection, coal coking, methanol-to-arene, coal tar hydrogeneraton, crude benzene hydrogeneration, carbon fiber and caprolactam, with strength gradually increased. The enterprise has grown into "State-Level Cyclic Economy Pilot Unit", "Top 100 Coal Enterprise in China", "Top 500 Private Enterprise in China", "Top 60 Chemical Enterprise in China" and "Top 20 Chemical Enterprise in Inner Mongolia" and was listed into the list of "double ten billion project" of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during the twelve fifth plan period.
    In November 2004, Kingho Group responded to the policy of building cyclic economy industry issued by the State, made use of its resource advantages, changed the traditional mineral resources development and utilization mode, built the Kingho Cyclic Economy Industry Park in Alxa Economic Development Zone. Since then, the enterprise has entered into a period of rapid development for project construction.
    During the period from March 2005 to March 2008,the Group has built 3 million-ton coal cleaning and selection project, 2 million-ton side coal tamping and coking, 200,000-ton coke oven gas methanol synthesis project, project of brick making using 100 million-piece coal powder and Phase I of 4 million-ton logistics project, etc. successively, forming a cyclic economy industry chain with integration of "coal-coke-chemical products-fine chemistry-building materials" and injecting new blood to the sustainable development of the enterprise.
    In 2008, Affected by the financial crisis, the Group was confronted with difficulties in corporate operation. Faced with severe economic situations, it put forward the policy of innovative development, cooperated with renowed research and development institutions both from home and abroad and made attempts to conquer technological difficulties. It has initiated the 100,000t "one-step process" methanol-to-arene project and 200t carbon fiber project and filled the gap of domestic industry.
    Until now, the enterprise has planned and initiated the following high-tech research and development projects: 500,000t coal tar light aromatics project, 200,000t caprolactam production project, 200t carbon fiber project and 25,000t needle coke project. Also, they cooperated with Tsinghua University and China University of Petroleum in joint development of high water-absorbing resin process and with Taiyuan University of Technology and SEDIN in joint development and construction of slurry bed engineering technology platform, etc. By the end of the twelve fifth plan period, the Group will complete the largest fine chemistry industrial park in the West Region.
